The First Flying Recoilless Rifle

A good read!
This is a very good article paying tributes to what many (myself included) consider as the father of all recoilless rifles, the Davis Gun. Despite the fact that the Davis gun expelled a lethal counter-weight in the direction of back blast, it was fieldable in the air and proved both the technical feasibility and values of recoilless rifles. The recoilless rifles that followed differed primarily in reducing the lethality of the back blast. As the article proclaimed, the invention of Davis Gun is indeed a proud example of American exceptionalism in firearms.
